Hi there everyone, I'm currently in hospital with a heamathorax, not too severe but enough to keep me here. My bloods are up the wall too. The doctor say the heamathorax is not connected to my lupus but I disagree as I've had low disease activity for a prolonged period now and they can't find the cause. Anyone else had this happen to them, and what was your experience?
Heamathorax: Hi there everyone, I'm currently in... - LUPUS UK
Heamathorax
Please keep yr strength up, I know wat yr going through and it’s a very traumatic time for you as 2 1/2 years ago I had this and was told it was spontaneous and not lupus related also, I had buleas on my lungs (scaring from smoking) for 10 years b4 which wasn’t really explained to me at the time and lived normally and out of the blue one popped leaking air and my lung collapsed, I didnt realise how serious this was until I was rushed in resuscitation as my gp told me it was my gallbladder so I walked round with a collapsed lung for a week, until I took myself into a&e this can just happen spontaneously to anyone (lupus or not) and non smokers it’s more prone to men & skinny people apparently can also happen through injury, mine didn’t resolve itself with a chest drain or suction unfortunately and I had to have further surgery after 10 days in hospital, my Rheumatologist came to see me in hospital and told me it was not lupus related just a spontaneous heamathorax, please ask lots of questions and make sure if yr in pain you have correct medication for this and what the plan is for you good luck with best wishes Emma
Hi Emma, thank you so much for your reply. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I've been told they're not going to drain it by the weekend doctors but I guess that could change now the week has started. They said it was small, all my obs are fine and normal but I was sick last night, and feel pretty horrible today. The pain isn't too bad. My bloods are the only thing that are wobbly but they have been for a while now anyway. I have a holiday booked in Wales on Saturday. I hope I get to go. Will be asking the doctors a lot of questions today. I really, really appreciate your reply, thank you.
Casey
Ah yr welcome Casey, it’s a lot to take in, I guess if your lung hasn’t collapsed then that is a good sign, my pain was in my shoulder but restricted breathing is why I went to a&e sometimes these things happen and ppl don’t even realise and they can just repair itself just make sure you find out everything u need to know have you had chest x-rays or ct scans yet? and seen yr consultant, make sure you get painkillers and everything u need I’m praying that you get to go on yr holiday and relax and fingers crossed no treatment for you, I think it’s bad enough all what we have to go through without any extra problems it’s scary being in hospital but yr welcome to message me and I’m wishing you all the best at this tough time keep your spirits up 😊 x
