Dry mouth and throat....

I have for the last several months been suffering sever dry mouth to the extent i cant swallow or eat anything wen its at it worse,this doesnt last all day but occurs several times a day,,i also have mouth ulcers my tonge feels raw, and at times looks like it has cuts on it, , iam also suffering alot of tummy troubles , bloatedness , nausia, vomiting at times,,severe abdominable pain, iam going for more tests but just thot i wld ask if any one else experienced these symptoms...

Hiya, I'm not sure what meds you are on but depending on that these symptoms could be linked, I sometimes have trouble swallowing but nowhere near as bad as you experience. You should speak to your rheumy nurse or at least your GP about this.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Hi thanzx iam on hydroxychloroquine, aziothiprine is the 2 main one, went to drs this morning he gave me the spray, glandosane, artificial syliva, its is helping already but need to uise it often, still dont know exact causes yet but got my rumi dr soon so hope to find out then, thanx for ur reply. x

Hi, I have suffered with that for years, it was not until my old dentist retired and I had a new one they she referred me to the dental hospital, that I had got a big problem. It was the cause of losing many teeth and decay problems. I was given tablets to suck, gel and a spray and I don't have to suffer in silence any more. Go see your dentist or doctor and ask him/her to refer you. Good Luck.

Hit thanx for reply, yeh i hav a lot decayed teeth too, i went to my dr this morning and he gave me the spray, it is helping but needing to use it often, as long as i know theres a solution it makesn it easier to handle so thanx guys for ur replys its helped me greatly.... thanx again.x

Hi, I also had been suffering like you, again like hazelHollingsworth said I was also having problems with my teeth ... they are now loosening and looks like Im going to lose them. When I saw the Rheuma my throat was so dry I could hardly talk.. it was then I had a test done to confirm Sicca syndrome (Sjogren without the Rheuma Factor) I also have prescribed drops and gel but at first I was put on tablet meds, they didn't help. I still get mouth ulcers and now prone to getting cold sores ... My teeth will never be right and have a lot of problems with them now ... Id tell your doctor/Rheuma about your symptoms ... Hi yes i was like that on fri with my rheuma dr, but she was more conserned with other symptoms i didnt get an answer, but was at nurse this morning for bloods and it was realy bad again she stated she think its (sjogrens) too, so wait till i go bac to rheuma dr n take it from there, my mouth is bad with ulcers rite now, and my teeth have been realy bad recently its all making sence now. thank you so much for reply as i said above hav got the spray which is helping so far so al just keep asking for help .. all the best to you too..x

Look at side effects of the drugs you are on. Some can cause this. Could mabe be a type of IBS?

Hi there they do say it can cause it slighty and unfortunally i do have ibs and i hav been getting alot of tummy probs recently too jst waiting to go for more test so hope to get to the bottom of it all soon, thanx for ue reply...x
