Anyone have Mono in the past? I’ve read an article that states Lupus can be linked to the Epstein Barr virus.

You can read the article on Facebook. I subscribe to Medical Medium. It was very informative. I went immediately and got tested for EB and was positive for past infection. I never knew I had mono in the past. I’ll try to get you the link if you have a problem finding Medical Medium on FB please let me know if you need.

It’s a tough thing to diagnose. I went to an immunologist to get clarification.

Hello there, yes I’ve always felt very strongly that there was a link between EBV and autoimmune conditions such as Lupus.

I had Glandular fever at age 16 and 18 years later I was struck down by a weird illness that felt identical to Glandular fever.

Later diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue disease and I feel I can trace my symptoms back to that original infection.

It must corrupt your immune system in some way. I think this is a really interesting topic you’ve raised and I’d be very interested to see if others feel the same way.

I also have MCTD which was diagnosed after having mono. I have read where they could be linked.

Me too. Glandular fever at 16 and confirmed Systemic Lupus at 30. Still get swollen painful glands if I’m run down

I had mono and believe that’s what started my Lupus. It was right after that when I started with symptoms and was diagnosed. I read the same thing.

I had mono --a bad case--at 16 yrs also. I believe I have been 'ill' ever since.

Yes, that's what triggered my lupus. I had mono after a trip to TX in April and was diagnosed with lupus about 3 months later. Mono feels very much like lupus as far as the fatigue level goes.

I have EBV Antibodies, found that out myself (along with TPO AB)! Also I'm ANA 1:320 Speckled.
