Interesting article in todays Guardian re research into the Vegus Nerve. As a SIBO sufferer there is a lot of talk amongst experts in the connection between the brain and the gut. Also reading this the connection between the nerve and the Spleen which I didn’t know. (I have auto infarction of my Spleen). I did look up the cost. It’s over €600. Worth watching though.

Arrival on the Vegus Nerve
Thank you for posting. It’s also used to help migraines.
Vegus nerve?🧐 Surely it’s the VAGUS nerve.🤣
Nothing surprises me with my spelling! In my defence dreaded spellcheck did change Article as I typed it to Arrival though. 🙄😂
Fascinating stuff. I've long held the view that the vagus nerve controls our digestion and heart rates and that the two are linked. I used to get palpitations, but I noticed it was particularly after I'd eaten. Massaging the vagus nerve in the neck helps to stop them, along with ginger capsules.
Thank you for posting this Halfway up hill.
I learned about the vagus nerve when I was just 48 years old and thought I was having a heart attack. My Dr kept me overnight at the hospital and when all was said and done she said it had been determined that my vagus nerve had stimulated my esophagus so that it contracted and truly felt like a heart attack. I had slacked off my deep breathing and returned to it regularly. I still do and it helps a lot of body/mind symptoms., Great research.
Thank you all, I’m glad you found it useful. It looks like some of you have found ways to control this other than courses of antibiotics which sounds very promising. I have not but perhaps worth pursuing more alternative ways to help stop it. Interesting what you say Mrs Marigold about deep breathing. I get esophageal spasms which are controlled by a different PPI now but with SIBO the pain is not just in my chest and even causes chills and causes Raynaud’s attacks. It starts with a lump like feeling in my throat and I feel I’m going to collapse if that sounds familiar to any of you. I think in mine and probably many cases it’s a physical cause which puts a strain on the vagus nerve and then one effects the other like a downwards spiral. I’m interested in this to see if these methods can go someway to improve or even reverse this. I have Kyphosis caused by eosteoperosis and if through breathing or exercises can stop the strain on my vagus nerve that would be something but I think it’s mainly the bacteria build up from SIBO caused by gastroparesis that is the real culprit. The SIBO has even caused the esophageal spasms to return due to gases coming back up my oesophagus. It’s a vicious circle really and if these devises can go someway to alleviate inflammation and who knows perhaps more that would be something!
Thank you again for your helpful responses.
I’m sorry you suffer this. I was cured of SIBO with antibiotic ritaxamin/my spelling may be off. It uniquely only stays in your gut. This was 10 years ago. I have a gastrointestinal doctor who is always up on the latest and many folks had not heard of this method yet. I think it may be back and plan an appointment to find out. My understanding is SIBO usually returns but I’m not up on research anymore. Deep breathing won’t cure you of SIBO but it could very well help your esophagus. 😊
Thank you very much for posting this. This looks very interesting. It would be great if they could allow some sort of trial before purchase. Will write to the company.
