Number One son is being relocated by his employers to Hong Kong. Very short notice but an exciting step up the career ladder. He visited last weekend and I won't see him in the flesh for some time, but the 21st century makes it so much easier to keep in touch.
With the help of both sons I visited Fountains Abbey on Sunday. We'd forgotten how beautiful it is. Sons took turns in helping me walk *gasp* two miles.
In spite of the usual SP50 and a hat I have a malar rash souvenir. Another selfie for my rheumy. Was it worth it? Yes,yes, yes, yes, yes 🤗

Great stuff. And yes, I'm sure it was worth it. Good luck with the HK adventure - maybe you'll get out there yourself one day, but even if you don't, no doubt your son will be bringing back some exciting tales x
What an uplifting post! You sound in good spirits after such exciting family news and then a good exploration adventure. We have to get out there and *do* too when we can, don't we. And I get the same bizarre happiness from developing the rashes needed... : )
What I did on Sunday was something equally exciting for me. The sun was in full force, I suddenly began to react horribly to it last summer and still don't have the right solutions. However, a full wetsuit, gloves, boots and peaked cap left me with only an oval of face exposed. That I covered with 70 factor helioplex and some extra zinc oxide on the noggin. Into the sea I went! Yahoo! Great rolling and crashing waves on the Cornish coast, scenery to die for (possibly I am dying for it!), rolling green hills, cliffs dotted with finger pointing mine shafts, sheep, a great swath of soft brown sand as I was out there surrounded by blue blue water with the light catching it just that way..
Half an hour later, sporting deep pink rash, numb lips and happiness, I asked myself exactly the same thing, Was it worth it? I answered, just like you: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!!!!
Good luck to him - my niece and her husband have just returned after several years there. They loved it. They came back for him to start a new job - and the first place he was sent was: HK!!!
Did you visit Pro? I'd love to, carefully checking the best time of year. I've been suprised by the fares because I'd expected them to be much higher. The insurance will be a different matter, but we'll see.
No, but I have been to HK, used it as a stopover on the way to Oz. I enjoyed it - hot and sticky but fun. The best bit was sitting at the front of our hotel room overlooking the Star Ferry and just watching. The entire front wall of the room on the 22nd floor was glass - OH nearly had a fit. Singapore was the choice coming back - even better.
