Push for further tests

Hello. I am as of yet undiognised but this is being looked into via my GP. I have my six month check up with the Renal department this week who I am under due to high blood pressure. Is it worth me asking my consultant for further tests including ANA testing or is it only my GP who can make those decisions?

Many thanks

No, you speak to the doctor at the renal department regarding the blood tests

Hi. I have regular standard blood tests and they are all coming back ok apart from being aenemic and raised liver enzymes. I just didn’t know if he would be able to push my GP to look into things further and quicker in regards to Lupus.

If he feels that further tests are required then he will instigate this

Thank you. I haven’t had a conversation with him about any of my other symptoms as I’m only there for my blood pressure. I just wasn’t sure if I should speak to him about the other symptoms or just leave it to my GP.

If you feel that you need to speak about your symptoms then do so, you know your own body. Trust your instinct

Thank you. My GP said my other symptoms some which I’ve had for many years fit into lupus so I’ll see what my consultant says. It’s hard to speak up sometimes.

Trust me, you will learn. You will also get a lot of advice from others here as well as the lupus site itself.

You can always request other tests. If your doctor won't run them for you, see a different doctor
