Hello all , I know on 29th or march the government gave a recommendation on household contacts for immunosuppressed adults to have their COVID vaccine in order to further protect them. Are there any other information /guidelines or directions in regards to this ? I could not find anything more imperative in regards to this subject and my GP practice has no knowledge of it and not really able to help with further information/action? Any suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated please.

I had a text on 1 April from my surgery asking me to let them know of any 16+ who live with me who haven't yet had their vaccination so that they could arrange for it to be done.

Here is the link to the article in Pulse.

Perhaps you could send this link to your GP.

Good luck.

I had a link to book a jab in these circumstances which I passed onto my daughter at uni in England (no mention of it in Scotland), but, having just checked the link, they have changed the criteria in it and there's now no mention of household members of the CEV.I just wish someone would tell us what's going on.

I had my GP app and unfortunately they are not taking any steps in regards to this matter. I am further waiting for a call from the practice manager. It is incredible how different and non-aligned procedures are across the country in surgeries. 😒😬 I hear from acquaintances, neighbours and friends that they got vaccinated on the spot with vaccines remained at the end of day from people that had refused to have the vaccine and yet there isn't a rigorous process in place for household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals. 😒

Did they give a reason for not doing it?

I quote...'it is a small surgery in a small village and would be an huge amount of work for the to be done'.... I still have not heard from practice manager , I will follow up . 😑

I'm really sorry MadT that is a very poor excuse; they are going against a government request. A call to 119 may help you if the practice manager can't hurry things up for you.I hope it works out for you.

Could you call 119 and ask them for advice?

Hello all, I am pleased to say that the practice manager contacted me and offered a vaccine for my husband as he admitted hubby is eligible for one because he is living with an immunosuppressed individual. He booked him on a larger vaccination site in the area. Please do not give up in your talks with the GP/Practice Managers in regards to this topic as this is indeed the correct approach they should use but sometimes, unfortunately is simply....'you don't ask , you don't get'. Thank you muchly for all your valuable input, really appreciated. stay safe and take care.

Not at all Paul, this is a valid point for all of us here and sharing the experience hopefully will aid others to get this sorted out.

So pleased MadT that you have managed to arrange the vaccine. That’s one less thing now to worry about. 👍Thought I would share that I've booked a vaccine slot at one of the larger hubs for my 24 year old son. He’s eligible because I’m immunosuppressed. One was booked a couple of weeks ago but then the information about the AZ vaccine in under 30’s was released. I’m hoping that a different one will be offered when he goes next week but there are no guarantees.

🤞🤞🤞
