Teeth
I keep getting teeth that break and crumble. The dentist keeps trying to save them but has warned me that I need to get them capped as there isn't enough tooth left to fill if it crumbles again. Thankfully so far it's only happened on ones at the back that don't show
Hi does your dentist think it's caused by sle, mine doesnt
She's never said but to be honest I've never asked - I just always assumed it was related to me having a dry mouth as part of it
Since being diagnosed with SLE i have seen three different dentists, one in a different country. All the dentists recognised SLE does damage but its the secondary sjorgens syndrome that has to be addressed when it comes to looking after teeth. I now use 1% fluriode toothpaste to help coat teeth. Sip water regularly to keep your mouth moist, as its the dryness that causes everything to go downhill. Chew sugarfree gum, sugarfree sweets. I have lost 4 teeth and have 3 more capped. So i stick to this so much as i don't want to lose anymore. Also get a mouthspray if your out you can use this regularly. Why hasn't your dentist told you this? Also some of the medication doesn't help.
Hope that helps, Jake
Take care
Kezzie
Yes, all mine have gone - they crumble like salt. I wouldn't risk implants with my immune problems.
