For a couple days now I take a deep breath or move around and I feel sharpness in the left side of my chest, not exactly where my heart is but close enough. Also under left rib cage it feels full and dull pain that’s on going for the last 3days .anyone ever had any of this with lupus?

Feeling dull and sharp pain
It does sound as if it could possibly be costochondritis. Get it checked out by your doctor to be sure. You should always get chest pain checked out.
I had pains like this back in October I have lupus and fibromyalgia, the pains got so bad I couldn’t breathe and was rushed into hospital, first thing they did was check there was no fluid around my heart (can be a symptom of lupus flare) luckily there wasn’t but I was treated for sepsis and stayed in for a week, go and get checked just to be careful xx
Hello Jcabrera521
It sounds a bit like pleurisy to me. I have SLE and Fibromyalgia and have had pleurisy about 12 times, 3 times I left it for too long and ended up in hospital on IV antibiotics. Always check with your doctor with chest pains due to the different conditions associated with lupus. Please let us know how you get on!
Good Luck

I have SLE and fybro too and pain on taking a deep breath sounds very much like pleuritic pain - glad you’re not ignoring it. I had this in November as the start of a Lupus flare and it worsened to pain through my chest into my back and up into my shoulder until I could hardly bear to move. I was put on steroids which stopped it immediately. I’m now trying to come off them but having to up the Methotrexate to compensate. Might very well be different for you but I’m learning more and more not to ignore my body and to be confident when talking to GP’s. Xx
Hi Jcabrera521,
Have you spoken to your doctor about the pain you are experiencing?
If in doubt, it is always worth speaking to your doctor about the symptoms you are experiencing as he/she can provide you with the correct advice and treatment. Also, the doctor may refer you to a specialist such as physiotherapist or pulmonary specialist if required.
We published a factsheet on ‘LUPUS: The Heart and Lungs’ which discusses how lupus affects these two organs and the common symptoms that can possibly occur: lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...
