My goal this year is lose the little weight I’ve put back on and be another stone done as well.

So the first week on January didn’t count 😂 . It’s hard you have to detox from Christmas . So starting Monday I’ll be writing down what I eat and count my calories .

Just wanted any tips for meals if anyone has any ??

Hi loulamb

My tips for meals are smaller plates so smaller portion sizes. Cut down on carbs ie potatoes in all their forms, no puddings and cut down on sugar as much as you can!. Eat lots of fresh fruit and veg. I've managed to lose half a stone in two years which is really slow but I take daily steroids!. You've an advantage that you don't. I have a biscuit once a week and treats day at a weekend to help me thru!. It's hard having to be so disciplined but I'm losing weight!.

I'm sure you will do well Lou. Hope work is good and keep us posted on your diet progress. My advice also is resukts will come but you have to be very patient!. X

My plan is 1400 calories a day . I worked in out on a website.

That would give me 400 for breakfast , lunch and dinner and 200 calories for a snack. My breakfast is less that 400 calories.

That sounds like a good plan. You need a certain amount to function at work etc. Best of luck with it. Look forward to your updates. X

Hi Daniela

I take the same steroids as you must be, prednisolone and it can be so hard to lose weight!. I really feel for you , our bodies react to these drugs differently !. I've probably been very lucky not to put on loads of weight but have been very careful what I eat and how much for years to keep as trim as possible!. I feel for you having the chest pain too!. That is very painful. Do the steroids keep being increased to cope with it?. I've had it for years and was given colchicine by my Rheumy , an anti inflammatory that treats gout but they've found it good for some chest pain!. You might like to ask about it. Sorry I can't be more helpful. X

I highly recommend reading the Fast Metabolsim by Haylie Pomroy... the science behind the boook relates to food and the inflammation is causes our bodies. Perfect way of life for those of us suffering from Lupus or any other inflammatory disease

Its a game changer, on how you will feel. I was affected by so many signs and symptoms for the past four years. Joint pain, stiffness, fatigue, mouth ulcers, etc. Once I changed my lifestyle to follow that ain’t-inflammatory eating. I have never felt better. Actually I was just diagnosed with Lupus, in Nov. My rheumatologist said I am the healthiest Lupus patient he has ever seen. I had shared with him my diet and exercise program and he attributes it to my lifestyle. Good luck let me know if you have any questions.

I am on Prednisilone and in 2010 I was on 20mg and went to weight watchers and lost nearly a stone in a few months. A few years later I decided to use diet chef meals, which I stuck with and in nine months I was back to size 12Uk. since then if my clothes starts to feel tight I have a boost with Diet Chef and I use the App MyFitnessPal.

The App will calculate how many calories you should eat for the day and you can eat anything because absolutely every food and restaurant is on the App so you just look it up and add and you can use the barcode on food and again it will show the same on the App and you add it to your daily intake such as dinner, lunch, breakfast and snack.

All the best but remember you can also ask your GP for vouchers to Weigh Watchers or Slimming World. I think your weight is assessed before you will be given the vouchers.

Hi LouLamb,

We published a guide on lupus and healthy eating which you can read here: lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Also, we published a blog article on exercising with lupus: lupusuk.org.uk/lupus-and-ex...

To track calories and keep a food diary, you may wish to download an app called 'MyFitnessPal' on your mobile device or tablet. The app can track exercise and calories burnt too.

Please keep us updated, good luck!
