New question regarding criteria

Does anyone know how old the lab criteria can be? I have taken a look at the American rheumatology diagnostic criteria and have seen that, for instance, WBC less than or equal to 40000 mm3 (can’t do the value thing so please bear with me. I have labs starting: 4/4/17 at 4.2 (low), 5/12/17 at 4.2, 7/10/17 at 4.2, 11/7/17 at 4.2, 5/18/18 at 3.8, 6/29/18 at 4.2, 7/10/18 at 3.7 and 10/10/19 at 3.8 All of these are k/ul value. Do these count?

Also i have records of low rbc and hgb until I started supplementing with iron. And lowest platelet count is 113 K/ ul that doesn’t say it clumped but still not lower than 100k.

Regardless if they count, I am so glad I kept my labs and that my husband recorded these on excel; i think it shows something going on.

Yes they count.WBC range is between 4000 and 11000 so it's just been abbreviated down to 4.2 ie.4200. Platelet count range is 150,000 to 450,000.Rbc range is 4.2 to 5.4 miliion cells.ranges can vary slightly between labs.

Thank you, do you understand the difference between the values? I hope they count. I realize the plt probably wont but that’s okay, I don’t quite fit the criteria for lupus so we will see what she says but al hopeful for more of a definitive answer

The bloods tests you need that help with a diagnosis of lupus are DS-DNA ANA immungloblins and compliments

Thank you Spanielmadlady, I do have a trend of complements going lower and finally a low c4 complement (didn’t think about the c3!) in my labs. High polyclonal gammopathy, but so far no positive Ds Dna or smith. Got new bloodwork today with more of these tests again today so we will see what they say :).

JennaShi -

The EULAR/ACR classification criteria for SLE states: leukopenia - WBC < 4,000 mm; Thrombocytopenia - Platelet count < 100,000 mm.

Can you send your labs to your new rheumatologist for review? That seems wise. Did you have further work up for the anemia? That is significant too.

Yes, I did get them to her. I have more labs and have alot in general and can only send two at a time so I will bring them and show her. Thank you :)!

Do you happen to know the difference between the lab values mm and K/ul? I’ve been looking but not sure that I’ve found the right information.

I think you might be mistaken about K/ul value. I've never heard of it and I worked in haematology. Perhaps cells/ul??

Hi MEGS53,

Thank you for your comment, unfortunately not a mistake. I will take a picture and try to tag you if you’re interested. Just an fyi, I am sure where you’re from but I not from the UK but US.

I’m wondering if theres different values in different countries? I’ve added a photo for reference.

Maybe. For sure, k/ul isn't a value used in the uk. Best wishes

Great to keep copies of “all LABS/ X-rays/ analysis”/your notes, etc -

We should keep a COMPLETE notebook of our medical records so we can show info / test results etc to “any” Dr involved in our Medical history.

Also include your notes with various symptoms you discussed with dr from each visit.

lupus.org/resources/the-six...

You could ‘print out’ the differences that you find bet the American and UK to discuss with your drs.

I agree, thank you, yes this is very helpful. Coming from different doctors it can be hard to get everything at once to see the bigger picture and more helpful when stuff is easily forgotten 🤦🏼‍♀️.
