I've been on Leflunomide for a few years now and find it ok. One side effect that has affected me is the loose bowels. To counter that I take 10 mg of Amitriptyline which helps. I could take more but then there are side effects from that drug too. Like all of these immunosuppressants there are side effects. Also you have to have your blood tested regularly and the dosage regulated. Keep at it for some weeks and decided then if you can manage any side effects. There may be none for you and only the benefits. It isn't a magic drug and I manage on 15 mg a day.

I was on leflunomide for a year, and although it helped with my arthritis, I later developed an itch, and was given antihistamine by my GP. Unfortunately, although I was on the highest dose of antihistamine, the itching became worse, and I later developed a rash also.

My rheumatologist, did not think it was the lefludemide, and felt that I should continue taking it. I eventually stopped taking this drug, and the rash and itching was gone.

That's an allergic reaction to The medication, usually. It's one of two things when this happens to me allergic reaction or my liver function s are elevated.
