I know this has nothing to do with lupus. But im having a biopsy on my back next week to remove a mole for suspected melanoma - Im very close to cancelling the appt as quite worrying if this is going to cause pain ( Im sure im just being a little girl)

Of course I know its important to get it checked but im very anxious

My husband had a mole on his back removed a few months ago - he says he didn't feel a thing. He was waiting for it to be done - and the surgeon said "right, you can go now..." I was waiting outside - I think he was in there about 10 minutes!

Look at it this way: of they were to find it was something nasty they can then remove it and treat you. My SIL had melanoma, the really nasty sort, and it was removed successfully and she was monitored. I think they found a second one at some point. She had some form of screening which showed no cancer cells in her body and they just kept monitoring. She died about 15 years later of something different. On the other hand - if you cancelled and then didn't know, are not treated and it gets away, you have a very different future ahead.

Yes I tried to avoid this a few years ago. Don't know why? ? Simple procedure and peace of mind with result. Go for it. Best wishes Kevin

Hi ive had two moles removed. One below my ear and one on my bra line. Ive also had a skin biopsy of my forearm. You will be just fine lovely. They numb the area so you dont feel a thing. I went straight to work after the skin biopsy on my arm. One I hadnt booked time off work as I wasnt expecting it and two it just felt like I had bruised and scraped my arm once the anaesthetic wore off. I hope all goes well. Sending big hugs xoxo

I had a mole on my back removed for biopsy. It did not hurt at all. You will get a local anaesthetic and it will be done quite quickly. Do not cancel your appointment. X

Hi Leanne

I had a punch biopsy 2 weeks ago and I didn't feel a thing, even the anaesthetic injections were painless

I would want to know what was going on if it was me .. that way you are fully informed and can make decisions based on fact, please don't cancel, timing can be crucial to positive outcomes

It may be something or it may be nothing but you will never know if you don't go

Good luck

I had a mole removed some years ago and I was scared, I'm not brave. Mine was "sliced off" as the consultant put it. The anaesthetic was the worst bit, stung a bit but not for long and it was removed very quickly, they had to tell me when it was done as I didnt feel a thing. Took less than 10 mins....Sent off for a biopsy it came back infected but nothing benign. You'll be fine :)

Thanks everyone - Will defo just get it took off, just being a little girl. Im worried as im travelling to the lupus center in London 3 days after so hoping it wont irritate me on the journey down
