Hello lovelies,
Any recommendations for getting rid of nausea and vomiting. So far I've tried Ondansetron, cyclizine, peppermint, ginger, pepto bismal, Maalox and some slippery elm on its way.
Can't even look at or smell food x

If none of those medicines and other herbal meds have not alleviated the problem, I would suggest getting in touch with your doctor as soon as possible..
I would try Metoclopramide.
Thank you I went back to my GP yesterday and he basically understands but also said I will have to ride it out due to the complexity of illnesses. So frustrating x
Well idk if it will work but I have the same problem that last for hours I use pepto bismo, antacids and ice chips start with ice chips then chicken soup or the bouon it'll slow it down after you throw it up let me know how it goes
I use Nux Vomica homeopathic remedy for nausea. I don't know they are sold in the UK, but I did order a remedy not available in the US by mail from London.
Hi, horrible side effect, you must eat. I am on a small pharmacy of drugs. I get Domperodone from my doc. This is quite given to chemo patients so quite safe.Never ride it out. Bad doc advice!!! You need all your strength to fight on. Hope you feel better soon.Ps I have Mixed connective tissue disease, loads of different probs and meds 22 years now
Buccastem which you can buy over the counter is one of the only things that actually stops me vomiting and takes the edge off my nausea. It is expensive at 6.85 for six but you can get it prescribed. You put it under your top lip and it dissolves over a couple of hours. I take the full two rather than one. It's a drug that is marketed for migraines but contains the anti nausea drug prochlorperazine (don't be put off if the tablet version of prochlorperazine hasn't worked for you. The Buccal version works better for me). My doc prescribes it to help me get over the worst and then I switch back to cyclizine so not a long term option. Not sure if they are still around but there is a company called 'lillipops' that make ice lollies specifically for morning sickness and chemo patients. The lollies also take the edge off my nausea. Hope it starts to lift soon. Xxx
When I have a flare up of upper gastric problems, which means I can't get any solids past my oesophagus and into my stomach, I don't vomit, it regurgitates itself. Not quite the same problem, but one thing I do is sip on electrolyte drinks to ensure that at least I get something through to balance the electrolytes up. I have a supply of them that sports people use: it's a tube of tablets that you dissolve in water. If you have d&v this helps offset the effects on your body.
Anti-sickness medications don't work well if you take them close together. They seem to cancel each other out. How evenly are you spacing the cyclizine and ondansetron? I'd suggest 4-6 hours and see how you go.
Thank you yes every 4hrs minimum. Actually tried the chicken soup today and it's been a winner, can't even normally tolerate anything hot so crossing everything x
Do you get nausea as a symptom of lupus/sjorgrens? If so, please can you let me know as that would make sense of why I often feel SO sick and yet nobody else does (i.e. no bug). I have asked my rheumy if it could be relevant, but he said not...
I have used Nux vomica to help in the past (can get it in uk from Helios), sometimes I even take Imodium plus as it has an anti nausea thing in it. There used to be something called motilium...but can't get it in chemist now.
Please let me know. I'd be really grateful. X
Hi Puffyface,
I am 99% sure it is linked to the autoimmune conditions although getting a definitive answer from a Rheumatologist doesn't seem easy always get a vague reply. The same response from my urologist so it's got to be one all the other lol.
I have ordered some of the nux vomica for my sos kit, I have Imodium but not tried them for sickness.
I used to buy the Motiliam a few years back and as you say they are no more I tried Kwells but no luck x
helios.co.uk/shop/nux-vomic...
Is this the correct one?x
Sorry not to reply earlier. Am in Paris with chaotic teenagers so just haven't looked at my phone this evening. Helios or Weleda are good. Take about 30 mins from food ( longer from coffee or toothpaste) and I hope it helps. Forgot about Kwells..have some of those in my bag too.but not very helpful . X
