Mild Anemia

Hi I have DLE lupus and have had blood tests for the other Lupus types and they came back normal apart from mild anemia. Any other DLE lupus sufferers have low anemia and is this a common problem in Lupus??

I am anaemic without obvious cause...blood loss or diet etc. Had an iron infusion a couple of years back and now back to square one and waiting for another. Only recently discovered there is a link with SLE. I imagine it would apply to DLE as well. If you are low on iron stores and can't tolerate enough oral iron I would ask about an infusion....its like a drip for an hour and made a positive difference to me. ☺

Thanks for your info, i've been told to discuss my mild anemia result with my consultant who I will see mid-February see what he suggests.

The first time i was diagnosed i was told i had microcytic hypochromic anemia. It took them a while to get to that conclusion because they originally thought it was my diet so i wasn't given meds. It ended up being that my body doesn't absorb iron properly and was given meds to change that. I almost had to have a blood transfusion too as they thought the meds might of not been working when i claimed of not feeling much better after but they where working. Though as a result of that one time i have to be careful as my levels will just drop without warning to the point where i need take meds. However at the same time my low iron levels are not consistent nor all the time. So once i feel back to normall i have to stop taking meds or i will end up with too much in my system. Its an annoying thing to deal with but it hasn't got the better of me yet.
