Mild butterfly rash?

I am waiting on a referral to a rheumatologist query lupus. I have a mild spotting/scaling/redness on my cheeks which I have always thought was just due to dry skin. Every picture of the malar rash I see looks quite pronounced and obvious. Does anyone have experience of just a mild rash? Is this something worth pointing out?
