id advise you to go to your doc this could just be a rash caused by something you are allergic to? Dont panc thats the main thing Go see your GP

I agree with kaz, particularly if it doesn't like the sun. Go to your doc and mention any other symptoms you have.

Could well be an allergy because, as I said, mine comes and goes and, as I have severe allergies, I suspect mine is caused by that.

make an appointment with your doc next week and see what he/she says then hopefully you will know if you are /aren't allergic? It can be anything at all, i am unable to use daz washing powder as this brings me out in a rash. there are so many things you could be allergic to, soaps, creams, foods, clothing the list is endless. Make an appointment with your doctor

I've always been quite pale. I had Lupus for years, and it has only been the last few years that I've had the butterfly rash. It's not really a rash as such. It's more my cheeks look red and flushed. I think once it appears, it's permanent and the redness varies.

so do you think my as i call it rash could be due to lupus. I been told i might have it. side point i had ana test done 3 times and all was come back positive.

If all your ANA tests have been positive I really think your doc should be doing more tests. Can you ask to see a different doc?

For some it can be an actual rash, but for others it's just redness. I also had a positive ana test. There're 11 symptoms for Lupus, and if you 4 or maybe 5 of them, you are classed as having Lupus.

I have the same rash along with painful joints, balance problems, banging head aches tired all the time, purple bruising and all worse in the sun except when I went to Kenya I was out in the sun all day and felt fantastic the only difference was the malaria meds I was taking.

My GP referred me to a specialist he hadn't got a clue what was wrong he then realised I had COPD asked if I took steroids and put all my symptoms down to that and discharged me had he of had asked me how long I had been like this I would of told him 2 years before all the above symptoms.

I understand some people have been to a skin specialist and they have diagnosed Lupus my GP said it must be rossha gave me some cream I used the whole tube still got my rash and other symptoms but the skin on my face is soft I have come to the conclusion one day through a regular blood test they will find what the problem is or when I'm on a mortuary slab what I am sure of if I go before that specialist I will come back and haunt him

I recommend you insist on seeing a rheumatologist. I have Lupus (SLE) and exhibit all of those symptoms except the bruising. I'm not sure if you've been told this already but the reason you would have felt so well in Kenya is that you were taking anti-malarial medication. One of the standard treatments for SLE is Plaquenil which is an anti-malarial (Hydroxychloroquine) so in effect you were treating yourself. I would strongly suggest you go to a GP (maybe not the one you normally do) and explain everything, including feeling much better while on the hydroxychloroquine and keep insisting to see a specialist until someone listens. If you have already done this please disregard this message.

Thank you I think I will go private as I don't want to go and see the same specialist.

Hi have you seen a doctor yet it looks like the well known butterfly rash a symptom of lupus

in reply toLarrylad123

No I have not going to the doctor, I really just don't know what to think about it. I really have forgetting about the rash on my face, but I am having this new symptom were my leg or my hand will go completely numb for like 1 or 2 hours. I cant say really what It means, could lupus even cause numb like that?
