One-sided butterfly rash from driving

Yesterday, I drove across town in the sunshine and got one-sided malar rash

Think this has happened before and wondered if others noticed this happening sometimes. No sunscreen, window down momentarily.

Hi StriatedCaracara. Yes I get a facial rash from driving in the summer and wear a UV face mask for any journeys longer than 30minutes. Mine came from an Australian company but they don’t seem to have them on their UK website at the moment and their Australian website is currently sold out. Definitely worth checking them out if they come back in stock. Soft and comfortable. Not effective as an anti covid mask I suspect solbari.com.au/collections/...

Yes, this has happened to me in the past, even without the window down. My lupus is now better controlled and doesn’t seem to happen any more.

Yes-

Driving especially with the SUN SHINING in on the Driver Side creates a burning sensation on Arm and can easily cause a “lupus Rash”. My arm started just becoming splotchy, if I get any SUN - so never any SUN NOW.

I have actually draped an Open MAGAZINE over my Arm by the WINDOW to keep the SUN from coming through the WINDOWS hitting my arm.

Before being diagnosed- I starting seeing My ARM showing a RASH after driving with the window DOWN. I definitely learned that I couldn’t do that anymore 🥴💜

Sunscreen helps, but COMPLETELY BLOCKING SUN with Long sleeves & sun protective CLOTHING helps the most.

Some friends have gotten the “DARKER TIMTED WINDOWS” w/prescription from Rheumatologist to go above what the Law is allows.

A lot of us can start to FEEL BAD just WALKING to the CAR in the SUN.

We never “stand in parking lot” without being in SHADE or use SUN UMBRELLA 💜

Attending Children outdoor Sports is IMPOSSIBLE without MAJOR SHADE, Hat, SUNSCREEN, Long sleeve & pants, 🥴

I am worse in the car (with the windows shut or open) than any when else. I put factor 50 on my face if I'm going out in the sun but don't remember always if I'm in the car.
