Good luck Melanie when you see a Rheumy. The ANA test is non specific for lupus, means there is something wrong with your immune system . The Rheumy will do other blood tests that are more specific for lupus and other illnesses to hopefully be able to diagnose and treat you. Have you been ill a long time?. Let us know how you get on. X

Hi Misty... How are you? Thanks for the information so it could still be anything really?

Do you have an AI DX?

Am 49 and YES have always had migraines and fatigue since 20s and recurrent cellulitis in lower left leg since 38 and some people see me as delusional.. lol....but I personally believe it to be the world that is delusional ;-) .... am also being assessed for ASD (aspergers syndrome)... My 7 year old daughter who is my fourth child has been diagnosed with ASD and although verbal, is far more classic in her presentation... SO the stress of Rosie going through the dx process and the trauma of initially being accused of fabrication by paediatricians who have absolutely no idea what they are doing when it comes to females on the spectrum.... and living life right on the edge and digging deeper than anyone should really have to has triggered proteinurea, high blood pressure, pleurisy, pneumonia and I struggle to walk now too... Support from any services is non existent... I crawl up the stairs in the evening..

So we shall see what else the rheumy finds out...

Hi Melanie

Sorry to read your struggles with your own health and your daughters!. Must be affecting yours badly the stress of it all!. Doctors can be particularly cruel when they don't understand a child's health problem, despite all their training!. They were with me when my illness started, I was 14!. I have a diagnosis of UCTD as my bloods haven't wanted to show much despite obvious symptoms like yours!. It's interesting how there are a lot of illness quirks amongst the auto immune illnesses like lupus and so different labels to cover them!. You may find this when you see your Rheumy but hopefully for your sake you will be more straightforward. Your going to the right doctor with a positive ANA so you have something wrong with your immune system. Good luck. X

Have just been re-reading my referral letter and it says that I have a positive p-anca and speckled ana antibodies... does this mean anything please?

P-anca are autoantibodies usually found in patients with the ANCA associated vasculitides but can also be found in other inflammatory diseases (particularly inflammatory bowel disease), some infections and occasionally in entirely healthy people. vasculitis.org.uk/about-vas...

The ANA (antinuclear antibody) test is positive in most people with lupus, some with other autoimmune conditions and a number of healthy people. You can learn a little more about this and the other blood tests used to diagnose and monitor lupus at lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Thank you Paul... Very helpful... and am sure its Lupus... I just hope that the rheumatologists know what they are doing... Sounds cynical and bad attitude I know unfortunately my experiences have got me here.. In Devon I often feel we are in a medieval time warp in the medical profession... ;-)... Have a lovely evening and THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN

It's another test for auto immune antibodies. The Dr will review symptoms and determine what is happening.
