Does a week of 20 mg of cortisone beginning with P ( I forgot the name ) makes you gain weight ?

Prednisone or prednisolone (same idea, slightly different structure).

One week shouldn't - although if it is very high dose then you may retain fluid quite quickly.

If you suffer from the hunger pangs that some people do and give in to them - anyone can gain weight in a week. Restricting your carbohydrate intake drastically can make a big difference to whether you put on weight while taking pred or not. I lost weight while taking pred - by cutting carbs. If I eat too many (anything other than salads and veg really) I put on weight. No bread, no cakes and no junk - no weight gain.

I'm not sure if 20 mg a day is a low/ medium dose ( prednisone) medium I guess? Ty

Yup - classed as a moderate dose. But anything you put on in a week will go again very quickly - unless you are a piggy!

A weeks course shouldn't do it's generally longer term higher doses

They are called prednisolone, and with high doses can make you gain weight, but on the other hand, for our conditions we need them. My rheumatologist likes to try and keep my dosage as low as she can. Hope this helps, keep well
