Been in a lot of pain the last few days and decided to go to the doctors. I have a kidney infection. Could this be due to lupus?

Sometimes people with lupus may be at an increased risk of infection if they are taking any treatments which suppress the immune system (such as high dose prednisolone, methotrexate, mycophenolate mofetil, cyclophosphamide, rituximab or azathioprine). In some cases lupus can also attack the neutrophils which can also make you more prone to infection.
Have you been prescribed some antibiotics? I hope that you are feeling better soon.
Kidney problems can definitely be related to Lupus. You can find this connection published in most research and patient information packages. Make sure you are seeing the right doctor for your infection and also make sure that he or she is aware that you have a diagnosis of Lupus. Most likely you should be referred back to your Lupus doctor for follow up and for continuity of records. It's fine to treat the infection right away with a doctor but just make sure that this information makes it back to your Lupus doctor.
