I didn't pass my blue badge assessment first time around I had to appeal and was assessed for the second time.they will ask how about how you manage day to day and look at what medication you take. They will also take you for a short walk.
Hi
If you receive higher rate DLA Mobility or the PIP equivalent. You should be automatically entitled to the Blue Badge
Hi,
I had to go for a blue badge assessment and I was told to take with me all my medication and copies of all hospital letters confirming what illness you have.
You have a chat and I had a lovely lady who asked what my condition was etc and how it affects my day and then she took me for a walk around the building to assess how my actual walking was. All I can say is exaggerate it and keep stopping to catch your breath and use a stick if necessary and think how you actually are on a bad day.
The day I went I was on a good day which is bloody typical....ha ha. But take your time and just think about it. Also just watch when you approach the building and when you leave, as they might be watching you.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Genuine people don't need to put on an act;!
Hi. Genuine people who are having a good day do. Every time.
Are they there when you cant get out of bed? Are they there when the pain in your hands is too much to pull up your own knickers? Are they there when your hip seizes up, or your knee or you are crying with exhaustion, with the sheer hell of another useless doctor talking crap?
Err no! We need all the help we can get and re running a recent bad day is not a crime, it is a reflection of what we put up with most days.
I have never heard of an assessment for a blue badge. As Tired above says, your entitlement is written down by the so called experts. Their word is law, as we all know. Council workers are not medically trained to assess toothache never mind our complex conditions. What would they do if you keeled over having severe breathing problems being forced to march around unsupervised by medical people? Ludicrous.
With no medical knowledge and a what? a fifteen minute meeting, how can they possibly be in a position to know you and your needs and refuse something that the DWP have "proved" if you are on the right mobility level?
They would probably make knee jerk comments and sweeping statements which go to show their ignorance of the layers and layers of problems we all face daily in our many many different conditions which Lupus throw at us and result in more bad days than good.
Replay your worst recent day mobility wise and whilst there ask about their medical degree in osteo, cardio, pulmonary, neuro and rheumy conditions. Also add in a question about their pharmaceutical knowledge.
Dont see the justification for it Leanne, but if you have to do it, replay your worst day, and yes, remember the department of sneaky tricks and dont rush up on your bike before limping in!
An act Bezzy? For people with zero power to perform in front of someone not qualified but dispensing miserable bits of card?Absolutely.
Good luck Leanne

Thank you. Will let you all know how I get on! Xx
