cipro causing lupus
It isn't sulpha based so ok from that angle. I was given a lot over a couple of years and credit it with causing big problems with my achillies tendons which is a known side effect. As far as I am aware I believe you should be ok with it just to treat a Uti or kidney infection. It can be very effective. Good luck x
No, and I find it unlikely.
No, but I was given two courses of cefradine, a broad-spectrum antibiotic with caution for administering to patients allergic to penicillin and I have suffered horrendous symptoms ever since including gut damage, thyroid problems, joint pain, allergies, etc.
There is a type of lupus that is drug induced. The drugs that most commonly cause this are procanamide, hydralazine and INH therapy for TB. When these drugs are stopped the symptoms subside. As far as I can tell in all the research out there there is still no known cause for lupus. That's why it's such a puzzle. The researchers believe there is a genetic factor combined with environmental factors. Interestingly a while back there was a thread that asked what people thought triggered their lupus symptoms and many thought their symptoms were triggered by an illness or a virus.
Thank you, nanleighh. That's a lot of interesting information. I've copied that into my records.
