It depends how low it is. In some of the many blood tests I've had I was diagnosed with low vit D and put on very high dosages to get it back up. According to many of the docs I've spoken to, vit D deficiency is rife in this country anyway - the rheumy I spoke to said that she's yet to test a British patient who isn't vit D deficient and that too many docs overlook this (she said if she had her way vit D pills would be available in every surgery like sweets) but she also said way too many symptoms are put down to vit D deficiency and conversely a lot of ailments/aches etc could be eased by upping a person's vit D levels. My GP was convinced that once my vit D levels went back up my symptoms would disappear (so did the neurologist who I saw, to be honest), but they didn't.

I hope you get sorted. Don't let them fob you off. I took a ton of vit D, got my levels back up and expected to be okay and left it another few months before bothering my GP again telling them I felt rubbish.

Sorry for the long post x

A friend of mine had severe B12 deficiency and felt dreadful - tired all the time and aching. She thought she had a virus but it went on and on. Once she was diagnosed and had the course of injections she was fine.

I really hope you can get sorted.

I am black and I asked to be tested because I have to use Factor 50 sun block and I don't have a lot of sun and my vitamin d level was very low but because of the lupus symptoms I have I did not notice any difference. Now I have been on the tablets for a year and my Rhuemy said I have to keep taking them.

All the best xx
