Is Prof Khamashta going to be away from Guys?

Hi just read someone mention that prof Khamashta is going to dubai for a year?....does anyone know when?

I have an appointment in July so if its not going to be him I see I'd rather bring it forward?

I hope not! I saw him on Wednesday and am due to see him in July. However unusually this time they didn't give me my appointment letter there and then. They talked about not being able to overbook the system. Where did you read that?

Actually it was on this site just today I read it, someone mentioned they wished to see him but he was going on a sabbatical to dubai for a year or something?... Havnt a clue

I must have missed that. I will wait to see what the hospital say when I get my letter. It's funny how we get attached to our doctors because they listen to us and care. In theory all doctors should be like that!

It wasn't a specific post about it, I read it in the comments of a post. Yes we trust them.because they listen... Especially when others have ignored

Hi, it was me and another person talking about it. I was recommending to somebody they see Prof Khamashta and another person said he was away for a year on a sabbatical in Dubai. I queried this as I saw him recently and have another appt in a few weeks. But the other person said she had heard it from 2/3 different sources. My intention therefore is to ring the hospital and ask, I don't want to see anybody else! 😕

Hello, I have just spoken to Professor Khamashta's secretary. She confirmed that Prof Khamashta has gone on sabbatical to Dubai, he left a few days ago. He is expected to be there for 12 months. She has no idea at this stage who will be taking over his clinics whilst he is away. She did however say that it is possible that the clinic will be changing from Wednesday to Thursday but expects that anybody affected will be contacted to advise them. I hope this gives the clarification we needed, although like me I expect many will be upset that we will have to see somebody else. 😒

Oh I'm absolutely really disappointed to hear this, Prof Khamashta deserves holidays for sure but I do wish I'd have been dealt with before he left, my bloods would have surely been back before that.

I'm petrified of seeing anyone else as I simply don't trust anybody else.

Hi Jodi, yes I am really upset too but sadly Doctors of this calibre do need to have the opportunity for sabbatical I guess.

I think many people will be sad and worried about who will replace him, but Guys has an excellent reputation and I'm sure whoever it is will be excellent (although I have a soft spot for Prof K). I will miss him for sure.

If I hear anything further about the replacement or change of clinic date I will let you know. I too am glad I never booked my tickets. X

Hi just wanted to say my appointment has been rearranged from July 1st to the 9th with Dr Sangle.

Just waiting to see any replies on my forum post regarding this.
