As some of you may know there has been some confusion about whether Professor Khamashta is away on sabbatical. I can confirm that having spoke to his Secretary today that this is in fact true. He went a few days ago and is expected to be away for 12 months.
She confirmed that at this stage it is unclear who will be taking over his clinic, but did state it was possible it will run on a Wednesday not Thursday, although this is unconfirmed. She advised that those affected should be contacted if this is the case.
I know many will be sad to hear this news, I certainly am. However, I am glad that there is at least some clarification as to the position.

I thought the hospital was supposed to reimburse you if they fail to notify you of a change within the 8wks before the appointment... I'm almost certain I was told this.
I have no idea if his is true? The thing is, as disappointed as I am about this turn of events, I believe that the hospital is still number one for these type of problems so whoever we get I hope and (believe) that they will be as committed and forward thinking as Prof K was. Try not to worry. X
Prof Khamashta is fantastic but I feel it's a long way for me to travel from Newcastle to London if I'm not seeing him, I am very wary of other rheumatologists after my local ones telling me I was fine. I'm sure we will all get sorted x
I know and I feel the same after a rough ride with my local hospital. However, if you can't see him I guess we just have to place faith in other doctors who have been trained by and guided by him. Xx
