It took me years to get my hours reduced. Take what you can get!

I was given Wednesdays and Thursdays which at the time I wanted a long weekend like you but actually it works really well. 2 days at work ,2 days off, then 1 day before it's the weekend. Perfect! Make Mondays work for you, they are not obliged to give it to you.

Good luck.

Barb - My doctor started me on MAG OX. It's a magnesium over the counter that's a lot stronger than what I as taking. I do feel a bit more energy. You may want to ask your doctor about it. Once you give in to fatigue, you are in trouble. We all push to fight it. YOU are the boss - remember that...over your body.

I hope that your Union can stand with you as you insist on your request for 4 days. I worked a Monday -Thursday week for over 13 years. Another site had a Tuesday-Friday week. I would think that it may take some getting used to but if you readjust your thinking to my weekend starts on Saturday and ends on Monday, it might work. I would take a pencil and paper and write out what you would put on which days. Monday could be your shopping day. The stores would be less busy. Good luck Barbdockeray.

I now work Tues to Friday after reducing my hours. The one advantage is that I am able to take the Bank Holidays that land on a Monday when I choose. I am looking at reducing my hours again to maybe finish at 3 Tues to Thursday. Hope it all goes well for you xx

What about Wednesdays. I'd thought about that. Never work more than two days running providing you actually work Monday to Friday!

I have Wednesday's off. It was the best thing I did. I know that if I am struggling on a Tuesday I am off the next day, then only have to work 2 days then have the weekend. Its helped me greatly. Good luck x

I managed to get Thursday's off which works well for me, I'm tired by Wednesday but at least I know I have the next day off then in on Friday and off for the weekend. It worked out well as the girl who took my day needed more days. I could do with another one at times but like everyone money raises its ugly head. Good luck and i hope you can make Monday's work well for you. At least they're helping you a little and at times anything is better than nothing. Xx

Hi, it's good that you've got your union involved. Is it something to do with workloads and Fridays are busier so they need you? Shazzer's and Teddym's suggestion sounds good taking Weds off, so you get a midweek rest. I guess it depends on how nice your boss is. Occy health said I should be allowed two days a week to work from home, but my boss only allows one day. Just so it doesn't upset the rest of the team. Daft thing is, he allows others to work one day from home.....not because they have a terrible illness like lupus, but because they can't be bothered to make the daily commute into work.

Good luck with getting a Friday. :) My work have tried to give me a Monday as well and we are still in talks. They don't get it that we are tired after working all week not after resting all weekend to recover from work !!
