MRI scans tomorrow in Alder Hey, I really don't know what to do, and I admit I am panicking. :(

Try not to worry it isn't too bad. The worst thing was having to take my piercings out. You remain dressed but are asked to remove anything metallic ie belts. You then lie on the scan table and are taken into the scanner which is noisy (they give you ear plugs) and quite confined. Might advice would be to close your eyes and pretend you are somewhere else.

Thanks for explaining. I have never been to one before so I'm nervous. I had my ear pierced 2 weeks ago so that may be painful. :)

Jessica, you'll be fine. Like Dalediva says, close your eyes & think about something nice. Just keep still for good imaging, usually the Nurse will talk to you on/off during & you have a buzzer if you needed it. You won't need it I'm sure. You can be seen all the time from Nurses window nearby, not alone.

I've had so many I have lost count!

It's the fact that when I have to stay still I cant, I start twitching and I also don't like loud noises and confind spaces. But thank you x

I had one last Saturday, there was a mirror above my face so I could see out and I had head phones and an alarm to press if I was worried. It was absolutely fine.

MRI is one of the best ways of finding out what your underlying problem is.

It certainly worked for me, although I ended up by having both hip bones replaced.

I noticed several people mentioned having to remove jewellery. If they are still having problems, they should consider having allergy tests too.

Thanks for all the comments. I had my scan this morning which took 20 minutes. I must admit I didn't like it because of it being such a small space but managed to stay I'm there the whole time and be still. Just waiting for the results which should be here in 2-3 weeks. x

They're such nice people and have helped me through this as well, it's hard with it being 'rare' and not many people understand it but they make me feel so welcome and you can have a laugh with them which just makes you comfortable and at ease. Was your scan on your head to? If you don't mind me asking xx
