Hi, there I'm accompanying someone to an assessment with ATOS for PIP and wondered what to expect, how long will it take, and will I be able to speak up to support them?

PIP assessment with ATOS - what to expect?
Hi Slowmo
Best of luck for your friends or relatives PIP Assessment. If your not happy with the outcome can I suggest you contact your local Citizen's Advice Bureau for advice, they would help with an Appeal. Sorry can't help with what they're like. Let us know how it goes .X
I went this week to my 16 year old sons PIP assessment . It lasted about an hour and it was basically talking through all aspects of his daily life and how his condition affects him .The assessor was really nice . Am sure you will be able to support your friend . I let my son do most of the talking but added bits too . Good luck ... They said about one month until we hear outcome x
I think that they are meant to last about one hour but mine went on for much longer because we had a lot to say.
My mum came with me and she also spoke for me at times so I would recommend you do the same especially if the person gets flustered or emotional.
I would also recommend that you take notes as well
Thanks for the replies, it's good to have an idea of how long to expect etc. and also to know that I can chip in if needed.
