My husband has lung cancer and is getting targeted therapy treatment and has had 1 radiotherapy treatment. We are planing on going to Spain in 4 weeks time (we have been told it's ok to do this from his doctor) however we are looking for holiday insurance. Has anyone got any reccomendations for insurance please?

Eurotunnel insurance are really reasonable. They ask as long as stable, not terminal and fit to fly. I got a years insurance for my daughter who has lung cancer for about £60 found it on the forum on Macmillan website.
Free spirit but costly £700 per holiday. Also insurecancer but want access to latest blood test results.
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation have a travel insurance booklet. It is worth having a look on their website. I have used MIA travel insurance tel no 0800 999 3333 which We found to be ok. Good luck
I got one year's European travel insurance for £48 from Eurotunnel which I think is very reasonable. They were very helpful and prepared to include any pre-existing condition provided it had not been diagnosed as terminal.
I was very worried about getting cover as I have had more than one cancer and am currently undergoing chemo for NSCLC. I think that you need be considered as 'fit to travel' so if there is any question round that I would speak to your doctor
I found it extremely expensive to start with so didn't travel anywhere beyond UK for several years. Last year got cover for Rhodes and Vietnam through Saga and Covercloud respectively. This year been to Cambodia and Malaysia and used 'Paying too Much' website where obtained cover from 'Get Going'. Have found getting annual policies impossible so get a per trip cover (think due to hospitalisation for chest infections/pneumonia in recent years) having had lobectomy for lung cancer in Dec 2010. I had real difficulty this year getting cover and only took out insurance a few days before as I was undergoing investigations for recurrence and awaiting results which meant nobody was willing to issue cover until I had the 'all clear' from medics. Cover seems to depend on other conditions you may have and whether you want comprehensive cover for pre-existing conditions or exemptions which makes it cheaper but that's risky dependent on country. Was less concerned with travel to Europe as had a EHIC card and know easier to travel back if anything happened but wasn't at all sure about SE Asian facilities (know Malaysia has good medical facilities, the same can't be said for Vietnam or Cambodia). Good luck - there seemed good choice when I looked around depends on the coverage you need. Only after the trip to Rhodes had I appreciated how good I feel after some sun and a rest in a different country hence the travel bug biting again which was a regular part of life until diagnosis in Jan 2011.
We have a very good booklet"Travelling, going on holiday and lung cancer" It is a comprehensive resource to support people affected by lung cancer to travel. It gives ideas and information about where to go, how to get there and the all important travel insurance.
