Hi. Has anyone tried reflexology for lymphomedema?

I have recently tried a course and do think it might be helping a bit. Not sure if it’s just wishful thinking!

Yes! As long as it’s a reflexologist trained in RLD by Sally Kay and on the list of therapists.

I have secondary Lymphoedema from Vulva Cancer treatment in my leg and had a stubborn pouch of fluid that no amount of MLD from my Lymphoedema Nurse would move but after a couple of treatments has disappeared and not returned.Obviously I do all the right things and regularly wear my compression tights, mine was mild anyway but ‘it’s better to be safe than sorry.I continue to have an RLD reflexology treatment regularly and it seems to have worked for me.

Hi Jenny,

Yes, I am currently having this done in Norfolk. My L is in my right leg, all the way up, due to cervical cancer op. in 1987. After 31 years of this I'm finally able to have liposuction at the end of May, which should bring the large leg down to the size of the other, and I'll have to wear compression stockings both day and night from then on.

I'm 81 now, but age seems to be no barrier!

I'm sure my leg feels lighter after the reflexology, which I'm having every 3 weeks. I feel it's worth the expense. And I look forward to the reflexology itself! I was not able to have the LVA , as my lymphatics didn't show up sufficiently, so liposuction was offered, and I accepted gratefully. My lady measures my leg before and after the reflexology, and finds that the leg measures a little less afterwards.

I'm Having the lipo done at Chelmsford, that being the only hospital offering this kind of treatment in the whole of East Anglia! live just outside Norwich. Don't know why and how I've suddenly got these italics! Good luck with your own problems! jude4

Hi jenni113 I am currently having reflexology for lymphodema and like you I'm finding it very beneficial. Though for me it's early days yet. I must say though the actual reflexology is very relaxing which in itself can only be good.

I can't imagine reflexology to do you any harm but are you aware that there is a form of MLD massage for Lymphoedma sufferers?

Hi, I have been seeing a MLD massage therapist privately for about 4 years and she has really helped my Lymphodeama. Even she feels that a couple of my stubborn spots are softening since I started to have reflexology.
