I have been diagnosed with COPD have always had mild asthma, I've had two exaberations (not sure of spelling) so given Prednisolone and Spiriva inhalers and antibiotics, I cough incessantly night and day which is so debilitating, the meds do work and then I am ok, just wondering if anyone has experience of this, I visit an asthma clinic every six months.

COPD
I too have COPD and Asthma. But my Asthma was diagnosed when I was 13 some 41 years ago. So I have had it a long time, however the COPD was only diagnosed after I had Legionella Pnuemonia in 2008. This is when my local hospital who ultimately saved my life for the second time as so many people don't survive Legionella Pnuemonia conducted a load of tests on my breathing, plus numerous x-rays and scans, as at first they thought I might have TB, so barrier nursed me only to discover it was Legionella Pnuemona and that the major scarring on my lungs had come from being an asthmatic and the final thing they discovered was a blockage in my airway. Hence COPD. I have to admit it though the only time I am aware that I have a blockage is if I catch cold or flu, then I feel something is blocking off in the centre of my trachea. I also get a similar feeling sometimes when I eat and a recent choking event also put the fear of god into me. So I have learnt not to talk when people are trying to annoyingly hold a conversation with me when I eat.
I think the cough is the Asthma.
I do think your cough is due to the asthma as the COPD will feel that you have a blockage causing additional tightness in the chest and increased difficulties in filling your lungs. The O in COPD stands for Obstruction. Cardio Obstructive Pulmonary Disease = COPD.
