if you have congestion in the groin/abdomen would sports compression wear, which look like cycling shorts, or those anti-cellulite massaging high waisted things, be any good to help with lymphatic movement?

I think you would have to check with a lympho nurse or physio to check that the direction that sports compression wear moves lymph, and also if there is any element of graded pressure. Otherwise I think the risk would be that the congestion just gets pushed to another site.......but check with the experts!

Hi I have been told by my Lymph staff that wearing cycle shorts is a help. I sometimes wear them, but find that under normal clothes the extra thickness makes normal clothes uncomfortable and I get a bit hot. Linked up with tracksuit bottoms they are fine.

Hi Emma

I have swelling in my groin/pelvic kind of region, and my lympho nurse told me to try compression cycling shorts, or those big granny hold in pants, I've tried various with various levels of success, the best ones, which were recommended by my nurse, were the uniqlo hold in shorts, I can hunt out a link if you can't find them, i'm sure they must have them on the website.

You can also get proper shorts designed for compression, which I want to get, my MLD practicer has told me she is able to buy some, but they are a lot more expensive.

Check this out with your lympho nurse, also ask her about kinesio tape, which I have found very successful.

Hope that helps.

I was told to get some compression shorts too, but with my size I cannot find any that fit!! So I bought some 'magic knickers' from my catalogue. They come in long leg, medium leg and shorts. I think I paid £25 for them, and while they're not perfect - what is? - they're not bad! XX

You can get shorts custom measured to fit, on prescription, from Jobst. (Elvarex. Grades 2 and above have cotton in them too!) They can take 2-3 weeks to come from Germany, but I have them.. From below bust to just above knee. (Chest for men) 2 Pairs of shorts every 6 months. Also I would think gentle MLD in the area would help unblock the Lymph and make wearing these a better Lymph shifter.. Hope you all are well? x
