Cellulitis above elbow

I normally get cellulitis in my arm in the summer months….probably from insect bites. This morning I’ve woken to similar discomfort (like a bruised feeling) in my shoulder and upper arm. There are small areas of redness and swelling starting to appear so I’ve started Flucloxacillin. Just wondering if anyone else has had cellulitis from elbow up? All my lymph nodes were removed during mastectomy operation 10yrs ago. Thank you. Mary.

Thus far I have been very fortunate as I also had lymph nodes removed but haven't succumbed to cellulitis, but think you are being very sensible in starting Flucloxacillin.

It can appear anywhere! You are doing absolutely the right thing by starting a/bs. Get in touch with your GP tomorrow to ensure a 14 day course, plus a script for any future problems - it can invariably turn up just as the surgery closes on a Friday!

Thank you. I’ve always got flucloxacillin for emergencies. I’ve never had cellulitis in the winter…..I suspect it’s midge or mosquito bites in summer. No idea what caused it this time but it’s different as is aching much more and almost all above elbow. It is, however, responding to antibiotics now. It started during Friday night! As you say surgery closed Saturday so glad I’m always prepared. 😁
