I’m a new member here, and despite only having found this site around ten minutes ago, I already feel at home, and safe in the knowledge that I’m among kindred spirits.
I’m 64 now, and have suffered from what ai now know to be health anxiety for as long as I can remember - and certainly, Id say, for the best part of 40 years
I realise that with my passing years it’s probably possible that something might be getting me fairly soon, but I’m certainly not giving in, and I’d like to think I still have a good few years ahead of me.
I’m currently going through terrible fears that I have liver cancer, and despite have physical health checks, blood tests, an X-ray and 2 lots of ultrasound tests - all of which came back clear - I’m still worried that some soreness that I have - usually after eating - in the area around my liver, could be the thing that I most fear. I read a book a coupe of weeks ago that was all about psychosomatic illness, and although I was quite hopeful for a while that that could have been true of me, I now believe that the soreness I am feeling couldn’t possibly be a product of my own mind or my imagination.
Thank, in a nutshell, is my opening post on this forum, but Inhope to get to know a few of you on here, and will try to do my best to help anyone I can as I settle in and start to get to see how things unfold.
Regards
Graham

Welcome to this site - I have found it to be very helpful. I too suffer from anxiety ( on medication) and at 61 feel that my health anxiety gets worse by the day ! I’m actually in the middle of medical tests right now & of course fearing the worst possible outcome.
I think as anxiety sufferers we have to learn to trust. Trust that the doctors are giving us the best diagnosis but also listen to our bodies . I do think anxiety causes me lots of digestive issues. Wishing you peace !
Thank you for your friendly response. I do so hope your medical tests all go the right way for you, and that none of your horrible fears come to pass. I wish you peace, too, Annabelle, and I hope you put all your current issues behind you before a happy Christmas time.

Hello & Welcome
I to suffer with Health Anxiety and have done for as long as I can remember
I am now approaching 57 and the older I am getting the health anxiety is certainly getting worse , I feel one major reason is I had double pneumonia in Feb and it nearly got me and now I am so struggling to move on getting the same thoughts , I am getting older the odds are not as great as they were
I have found myself back to all my old habits of turning up at the Doctors every couple of weeks wanting reassurance by her testing my chest as because of the pneumonia I am so focused on my breathing
You are right though you have found a place where so many will relate to you and knowing you are not alone helps even if in a small way
It is a quite Community but sometimes that can have some positives as you can get to know people more and the negatives can be that you wait a while for a reply and don't get so many
There are several anxiety Communities on Health Unlocked and you can join more than one so whatever you are always going to now have someone to talk to
Thank you for taking the time to write to me, and to tell me all you did. It’s certainly true that it is a huge relief to have found a community where so many people understand the fears we face on a daily basis, and between us I think we have the power to to help to change peoples lives and move them on towards some happier days. I hope Incan play my own part in doing that in the way that I hope others can do for me.
