Horrible job anxiety

So I got hired at job after starting in temp status and I’ve been a nervous wreck. The project they have me working on is way over my head. Not only am I sick over this but I’m constantly worrying about what I will be given next. It’s taken over and completely maddening. My husband says just try ur best and let it go but I can’t. I’m terrified of them realizing I’m not good enough and getting fired. I’m so sick of feeling this way. It’s so upsetting. I cry every day feeling so overwhelmed. He wants me to understand if I were to get fired after trying my best it’s not my fault and it’s ok. Nothing is helping. Stuck in my head even with meds and therapy I feel hopeless for getting better

Hello sajax :-)

Anxiety makes us so lack in confidence and I wonder if it is more the anxiety talking than the fact you are not capable of what they are asking because I bet you are :-)

I think in a lot of cases honesty is the best policy and if it were me I would tell them how I feel , they cannot sack you for saying you are worried but they could support and help you with your confidence :-)

Your husband seems supportive and I would listen to him as well as how much less pressure that he is saying do your best and if all fails he is still on your side , you are lucky there and you must be a capable person for him to have that faith in you :-)

Let us know how you get on :-)

Take Care x

Thanks for the encouragement. It’s definitely true about self confidence. Mine is horrible when it comes to job related stuff. It’s a combination of that and it’s he fact that some of this stuff is really not what I know how to do. I have let boss know that it’s challenging for me. I wish I could let some of this go

I know how hard it is to let go of things that are bothering you I can be the same but in the end I do what I call surrender and tell myself I am powerless because some things we are and like your husband says do your best and what ever the outcome is then remember you did your best and you were powerless over changing the outcome be it positive or negative

I am glad you have spoken to your Boss that takes some doing and if it is making you this ill talk with them again , I am sure they would want to support you :-) x

I am so sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed. This alone can be caused by anxiety.

I strongly suggest you let your employer know you are not quite sure of the expectations and ask if they can show you. Many employers have told me that the only questions they hate are the ones not asked. Often we feel we need to know it all when that is not necessarily the case.

Also, writing down what is not clear for you, may help. It helps me to see everything written. If you are not comfortable asking your employer for more detailed help maybe use your computer to research the areas you are not feeling skilled in.

I pray that you find the peace you need, and a clear picture for your work so that you can enjoy it.

I agree with your husband, do your best and the rest will take care of itself. If you lose the job may be a better one will be waiting. Shift the thinking and anxiety often shifts as well. Blessings to you!

I’m sorry that you feel like your anxiety is affecting your new job. The truth is, none of us are capable of perfection. It sounds like your husband is supportive of your effort and that your employer is understanding as well. I struggle with not feeling “good enough” daily. I find that my strength comes from looking to the only One that is capable. I wish you all the best and that you are given the strength to overcome your anxieties and that you are able to excel wherever it is that you are placed in life.
