Extreme mood swings

I feel like I’ve lived with crazy mood swings my entire life but it’s getting to where it’s seriously effecting my relationships with people, my boyfriend and friends and my everyday life. Some days people say they feel that they can’t do anything right for me, almost like I’m constantly picking at them. I might get really angry with them and say things I don’t mean or sometimes I have intense panic attacks and thoughts of hurting myself because I feel that I’m such a bad person. Then I might be depressed for a day or two and not eat much. Then I might be fine for a few days and go kinda crazy and try to have fun and I don’t take the time to worry about anything. Sometimes during that time, I binge eat. It’s so complicated it’s hard for me to understand. Any advise?

Hi Landslide.

You really do sound as though your having such a tough ride of life at the moment.

Get a pad and a pen if you wish.

It’s not easy writing down your emotions but it does get easier the more you write.like anything new it takes a while and hard work to discover your inner self and write about it.

Yes go to the docs.excellent first point of call and I hope some support.

I always write what I want to say when I go to docs.

If you have a smart phone, you can use the notes app.thats handy as you don’t need to worry about bad hand writing like me.

You can then always add info about your self as and when and keep a log.

Ive seen ppl go to docs about day there mental health but you need to go in fully armed with your emotions and what troubles you.

Unfortunately mental health is kinda invisible so unfortunately a doc can’t guess how your feeling right now.

Ive just woken up so I’m unable to think so clearly at the moment but I’ll try reply a little later on if you wish

Hello :-)

You have had some great advise from Tiggerakafidgity :-)

Anxiety can make us have mood swings , one minute we can be fine , then angry , then crying etc this is normal

Do you tell your loved one's what you are going through so they can possibly try and support and understand why you are like this ? it can help even though someone that does not struggle may find it hard to understand but their support can still be something that helps us through this

I agree going to talk with your Doctor would be the first thing to do , they have heard it all before so don't feel afraid to tell them what you are going through :-)

If you need to vent or someone to listen you know where we are and someone will always try and help :-)

Take Care x

Thank you for the advice. I have actually been to the doctor with a page full of notes. I’ve done research and most of my symptoms fall under bipolar disorder. I’m going to try to focus on medicines that alter my mood. I have a Traumatic Brain Injury from a car accident and that increased the mood swings. But I’m now starting to accept it and realizing I need to figure out what it is. Sometimes I wonder how much I am even able to do to fix that.
