Here is a great video from The Anxiety Guy. He has helped me and my recovery and this video is about a very helpful tip to reframe and defuse anxiety. It's a practical tool to use in recovery or when you feel you need a boost. His advice is very practical and straightforward.

Being a newbie poster, i'm not sure what the protocol is. I should add that I am not pushing or financially benefiting from his program.

Hello & Welcome

I have been reading some of your replies , you sound very much like Anxiety guy himself you seem to have picked up his teachings very well indeed in your responses you make

If it has worked for you that is great , but must add that some of Anxiety guy's support is free and if you do go deeper in what he has to offer there can be a charge for it , we have to let members know this of course :-)

Take Care x

Hello lulu-1, I agree and is why I followed up with a post about my not receiving any financial renumeration, etc... which I should have included in the original post. The specific video that I posted had, what I felt, was a free good technique for reframing our thoughts about health anxiety and diffusing it.

Like a lot of people on this site, i'm suspect of anyone charging for their information. One of the things I do like about him is that he does give a lot of good, solid info on his posts for free. I have personally not taken his program, but if I felt I needed one, I would definitely consider it.

Thanks - D.

Ahhhh....I see why I feel like we know each other 😉🤗☺️ Dennis Simsek is my muse, too. #1 best anxiety influence I've found. The first and only program I've found that I connect with.

Yes, I found him really helpful as well as the DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos. I mentioned on another reply that I think both Dennis and Barry from DARE were influenced by Dr. Claire Weekes who pioneered the idea of acceptance and floating through the anxious feelings and surrendering to them. Her book "Hope and help for your nerves" was one of the first about it and she has helped a lot of people and a lot of people on here have found help through her. Her videos are available on youtube also.

Tomorrow I'm going to look up Barry from Dare and Claire weekes. I'm ALWAYS looking for holistic and natural Noninvasive and alternative treatments for depression and anxiety. I'm very proactive with my treatment choices and generally dictate to my Drs what I'm doing in the realm of my mental health. I'm completely shameless in advocating for myself...but it's come at decades of learning to navigate the medical systems to find how to make the broken system work for me. It's not an been easy task. But I won't be their guinea pig...I'll stick with what I've finally found works for me with paying out of pocket for TMS, diet, exercise, meditation and Buddhist principles to continue to guide me on the right path. Research into the gut brain axis and microbiome is most intriguing to me at the moment. Diet it very important to me. I eat 90-95% clean and unprocessed whole foods. Anything too rich or fatty disrupts my gut. Me and hubby gave up 99% all "added sugars" almost 6 months ago. That's been the biggest, hardest diet challenge. Sugar is in EVERYTHING. I had a headache for 2 1/2 wks...but it's the best decision for my physical and mental health I think I've employed yet. The physical changes are PHENOMENAL!! The mental changes, unprecedented.

I started Pilates today as my new commitment to healthy lifestyle changes. So that's a big step out of my comfort zone of anxiety. But I know if I don't do this now before I turn 50, things get a lot HARDER after menopause and I don't want to lose any more mobility or balance or strength than I already have. It was shocking that I could NOT 🚫 stand on 1 leg for 30 seconds...it was impossible. Scared me to ☠️ death. I'm only 48...so that shouldn't be a physically challenging task, for God sake!🤦

Good for you, you are doing a lot of really good, positive things for yourself and have a very healthy attitude and willingness to change, which is a big part of it. Being our own best advocate and continuing to ask questions and seek answers until we get the results we need is critical for our success.

Getting off the sugar addiction is really helpful and healthy. I use to have chronic sinus infections and finally connected it with my poor diet and sugar addiction and found I had candida fungal overgrowth. I wound up doing the diet from hell, no sugar, dairy, wheat or alcohol, I got to the point that water started tasting sweet - LOL! I also had a compromised immune system from having high-functioning anxiety disorder for years. I did a lot of healing and testing and found I am gluten sensitive so I really watch my gluten and minimize my sugar anymore. It is amazing how much sugar is in the majority of our foods, they even put it in french fries for gods sake. They say sugar is as addicting as cocaine and I believe it. Thankfully there are a lot more gluten-free options available now. There is a good book you might like, "The anti-anxiety food solution" by Trudy Scott, it has a lot of good info on natural approaches to diet and supplements for depression and anxiety.

Yes, it is sobering to realize some of the consequences of aging, I realize sometimes the hard way that I don't have the stamina I use to anymore.

I've enjoyed our discussions, feel free to ask me anything you have questions about, i'm happy to share what i've learned and try to pay it forward.

Holy crap...the sugar addiction in this country is killing millions! That's not even over exaggerating 😵I can't believe how much nutrition is completely ignored in the US. It's appalling. I blame my parents for my crappy diet knowledge but it took me until I hit my late 30s to start teaching myself how to take care of myself....on EVERY LEVEL 🤦I'm parenting myself now at 48 to accomplish reaching adulthood by the time I'm 50...I have no more time to waste

You're absolutely right, the amount of sugar consumed is just staggering. I remember watching Super Size Me when it first came out and one of the things how showed after has "diet" was how much sugar had been added to the food he ate, it was staggering. If you haven't watched the film its really eye opening. i personally suspect the rise of autism and other disorders in kids in our society is due to our food system and the sugar, the wheat that has been so hybridized it has no nutritional value, soy that affects the endocrine system, junk processed food and the list goes on. I grew up having desert at most meals and unfortunately inherited my mom's sweet tooth. I've definitely had to learn new healthy ways of eating and retrain myself. When I did my candida diet, it was so difficult finding anything without added sugar is incredibly difficult and says a lot.
