can i take papaya leaves extract while taking steroids
If you don't have bleeding symptom you must not really go for treatment ..also try to include B12 tablet in ur diet if it's low..that should also increase your platelet to some extent . .n no harm in trying herbal remedies or even homopathy . .
Yes you can take papaya leaf extract while on steroids. I had done the same and did not have any reaction. In a any case take steroids for a long period of time is not advisable at all.
There is no evidence that papaya leaves have any effect on platelet production. Trust your doctor to find the best solution.
PS if on steroids, make sure your doctor also prescribed bone protection.....calcium and D3
I do not believe in any of these so called cures, if they worked, then the doctor or hematologist would be prescribing it rather than giving steroids. Steroids are not given for long periods, it just seems to be the first treatment given. Everyone with ITP starts with steroids and moves on to other treatments. Trust your doctor, I do, and would not consider anyone or anything else. I just wish that these constant 'advertisements' for papaya were not allowed on this site, just plays on peoples distress at having a long term illness for which there is no known cure.
Precisely.....if papaya leaf worked, then we'd all be on it, and so much money saved on the steroids and other treatments for the NHS.
Everyones body is individual. The steriods are first line treatment because there the cheapest. 🤨 The harm they do long term are arwful 😑. So, short bursts. On the PDSA site there are many natural alternatives along with ' good food, genral well being adivce'. Many, many ITP sufferers have had phenomenal results using papaya, along with all the other alternatives. I'm one of them.!!😁 TRY THEM....keep a diary, watch how YOUR body responds. And most importantly..DO NOT FEED INTO NEGATIVE S***....smile, sholders back..LIVE for today!! Hug enclosed.😁💖 Ness
My husband is on Promacta and prednisone. Also thinking of trying fresh papaya and papaya leaf tea.
i take pappaya leaf extract and steroid , i dont dismiss papaya, it might work, western meds doesnt have all the answers, or many of them it seems to me.....)and big nbusiness so highly promoted)
It's okay to take papaya leaves extract while taking steroid. I did it and it worked. I also drink boiled mangagaw (tawa-tawa) leaves. My platelets was down to 4 and in just a matter of a week, it rose back to 300, which is a normal count.
Hi there can you tell me how do get mangagaw (tawa-tawa leaves, did you get them in a health food shop .My platelets are low like yours 4 or 5 have had all sorts of drugs. But dont really bother much now as platelets count, drops down again after you stop. I take steroids now and again,if platelets go any lower. Have been taking papaya tablets but don t really think they have had much effect. I have had ITP for 30 years now. I have always taken iron tablets, but have recently been taking FEROGLOBIN LIQUID which has vit B12 in which has seemed to help with the fatigue, and blood blisters in mouth (that is if you get them ).
I actually just got the leaves around the neighborhood. There are a lot of it in here as it is only considered a type of weed. Wow! 30 years? How do you get on with your life with ITP for that long? I only have it recently, a month ago, and I don't want to have it much longer as having lightheadedness, headache, rashes, bruises, and yes, blisters in mouth, are very inconvenient already.
Just got diagnosed with ITP and this is my first post. I've looked into the papaya thing, and all objective posts say it's pretty much a hoax.
I asked my consultant if diet played any part in platelet counts and she told me that it didn't matter what I ate as long as I didn't eat anything that boosted the immune system, as it wasn't proven that any food would make any difference to my count. I have been on meds for just under 4 years now, at present on Romiplostim injections, which keep my count stable at around 50. I'm going to try tablets in a few weeks as a matter of convenience, as the injections (which I self inject) have to be kept in a fridge which impacts on my ability to go away on holiday. I just hope the tablets work as well as the injections!
I am on steroids for ITP and do take papaya leaf juice extract in pill form. I believe it helps. My count has risen to 92.
