NINETEEN

Nineteen years in the purple,

Almost a score of ITP

Diagnosed in 2006,

A terrible shock for me

Three years on the steroids

I responded well

But as we ITP folk know

The side effects are hell

Rituximab in 2010 and again in 2013

A great result both times,

Three years remission

In between

In 2016 another drug

Mychophenolate the next to test

Preparing for the worst, but still

Hoping for the best

Well ever since then, my numbers

Are in the normal range

How do we comprehend

This illness that’s so strange
