I had pneumonia and sepsis in Feb 2018. My hair loss started in April. Nearly all gone now. Using biotin and vivisical . Does any one use these and see any results. So hard to have patience when you had thick hair and now is thin and lifeless. Do any vitamins or diet help.
Post sepsis and pneumonia: I had pneumonia and... - ICUsteps
Post sepsis and pneumonia
I found that improving my diet, increasing my intake of potassium & vitamin D helped, in fact I took a multivitamin which improved the texture of my hair, skin & nails. Hair straighteners & hair dryers were not advised for anyone. I was told not to be scared to brush my hair - it would stimulate regrowth. I have very slightly hair loss from before but I am 2 yrs older too.
I was in 2 Comas with Sepsis, pneumonia, Mrsa and organ failure in July 2017. About 3 months later I noticed I was losing a lot of my hair, I honestly thought I would lose all my hair. I was advised to take a multivitamin everyday. My hair is growing back, it just takes time.
I shaved all mine off, liberating!!!
It’s all back now but I took the multivitamin to stimulate hair growth, but it’s quite expensive, regain I think it’s called?
To be honest cutting it was best move as it grew back thicker and curly!
Hi. Sorry about your hair. My nails all broke too. Had sepsis in November 2017. I have found a hair supplement from Healthspan called hair and nails which is mainly zinc. My gp said a good varied diet. My hairdresser cut my hair into a much shorter bob and tgr new growth acts like stilts so it doesn't look too bad. It is getting much better after 6 months. We should celebrate being alive and only our hair is damaged! Sorry but patience is the only real cure. It will return. Xx
Mine fell out in handfuls. It’s grown back now exactly the same as it was before I got sick. Just eat well, take a multivitamin and try not to stress about it. Your nails will probably be quite brittle and the skin peeled off my feet and hands. I guess hair, nails and skin are sacrificed by our bodies to focus on respiration, circulation and fighting the infection.
has your hair grown back yet?
