Twin sister just out of induced coma

Hi my twin sister was diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to her spine in September last year. On Oct 18th she had surgery on her spine to support the vertebrae that were affected. It took her a long time to recover from that but she was determined to be home in time for Christmas. And she was she came home at the beginning of December 2 weeks earlier than anticipated. On 13th December I took her to her oncology appt and sat in a pa ked waiting room next to a woman who wax coughing and spluttering the whole time. Next day I came down with a cold and stayed away from my sis but 2 days later she developed a heavy cold and doc came out and prescribed inhaler and antibiotics but things worsened and she was taken by ambulance on 18th December to hospital where she was immediately put into an induced coma. Diagnosed with double pneumonia caused by Influenza A. She came round on Boxing Day so was sedated for 9 days in total. Since coming round we've seen improvements every day but she is very 'flat' - normally she is the Queen of sarcasm. She's talking but not initiating conversation really. Today she was moved out of ICU into a general medical ward. Her cancer treatments (hormonal) have restarted and she's back on her anti depressants that were stopped when she was sedated. I'm just really worried about the change in her character. She's normally addicted to her phone but has shown no interest know that and she is very weak physically too which I know is to be expected. She has very little appetite as well which is not like her atall either. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance that she will recover and get back to her old self. I'm aware it will take some time. Has anyone else experienced this kind of dampening of personality post coma/icu? Sorry I know that's a mammoth post! S x

I was in 2 grade 3 Comas with Sepsis, pneumonia, Mrsa and kidney failure. I was given a 1-2% survival rate. It’s been 4 months since I came home and I am slowly recovering. I have short term memory loss and have just been diagnosed with PTSD. Your sister has been through hell, it will take time for her to recover. I wish your sister well in her recovery.
