Best friend in induced coma

My best friend has been in the ICU 5 days and in an induced coma for 3. She has Cystic Fibrosis and is at 27% lung function. On top of that she has pneumonia and had a heart attack on Thursday. She seems to be getting worse instead of better. I am completely beside myself...I can't fathom the thought of losing her. I've been having headaches and stomachaches almost constantly from stress and just about have given up hope. I'm praying like crazy (as are more then 100 other people) do you think she can survive this?

Most of the people who write, or are written about on this site, have defied the odds - I hope your friend improves soon

I was given a 1-2% survival rate, never give up hope. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

You will be surprised what the body can cope with

In my case I was in a coma for over 3 weeks after a cardiac arrest which took 40 mins to revive me, then gave ARDS and pneumonia a go as well whilst in ICU

They feared brain damage and then one day I simply woke up, it took a while to get back on my feet but I was alive and well

Always try to keep positive your friend will need you

Thoughts and prayers with you at this time

Your story gives me massive hope for my granda who had had a similar experience with the cardiac. We are waiting for him to wake up at the moment. Xx

We were told my mum was unlikely to survive in ICU - that was in october! She spent xmas day at home - stay positive x

I was in an induced coma for 2 weeks with sepsis, ARDS, and pneumonia. The doctors to my family I only had a 2% chance of surviving. It’s been 12 years and I’m still here. Hang in there, it’s amazing how a person can pull through even with the worst odds.

I don't want to jinx anything as it's still early on. But I wanted to say there has been some positive improvement!
