My mother is in an induced Coma

My mother went in a induced coma fifteen days ago. They told me and my siblings that they were ending life two days ago then just doing care. She had back pain, Osteoporosis. The consultant told us that our mother was ill for some time. We know she was ill but to not to the extent she would be in an induced coma. She was going back and forth to the doctors for tests. Because she didn't hear anything from the doctors from the tests that she did. My mother thought it wasn't that serious. Now they said today that they are putting her back on end of life. All machines will slowly be turned down tomorrow but she will still have pain relief and the ventilator until she stops breathing. Everything just went at a fast pace and it doesn't mentally prepare relatives.

I just went through exactly the same thing with my father. I’m so so sorry. All you can do is be there. I’ll be lighting a candle for you and your family tonight xx

I am sorry for your mum and your family. ICU is a rollercoaster and very difficult for families. You and your family members being there and talking to your mum will reassure and comfort her.

Hearing is a sense that is important. Your mum may not be able to communicate with you but she may be able to hear you. We talked with m brother when he spent 2.5 months in ICU in an induced coma.
