Interesting - way back when I had a young stroke/aneurism at 37 as young mother of 4, only one doc spoke about malformation. No comment when I had second stroke 16 years later, speech therapy for months but back teaching. Then 9 years later I told docs I had another stroke- television, reading, computer use / but (in head)!? so no wonder I researched finding Lupus/Hughes, the Forum/Foundation until finding a new European specialist here who knew APS and the eye stroke/Retinal APS I obviously had, getting referral to London in 2010 to get definite d/x. As many of you know I'm in north Australia, and my GP does not want to know, even though I handed her London Bridge Hospital doctor's letter. No end to the story as other GPs/specialists are the same here.

Oh dear so sorry, are you aware that one family has travelled within Australia to see one particular doctor? If of interest, we can let you know, sorry to hear about your shoddy treatment. Mary F

Thanks, Mary, I've been there, done that. London doc said forget about that southern visit.

ok... shame about the GP... some are so keen to get their teeth into something new - others just don't. Sorry that it is so frustrating and I am glad you have had some London connection! MF x

Hi Mary hope you feel better soon - thank you for all the good information - i work in a hospital (well off sick at mo) but that is my field neurosurgery we see quite a few patients with AVM and consequent bleeds on the brain... sadly it is a condition children have that causes a bleed - rare for children to have aneurysmal bleed it is usually due to the malformation of the artery and venous structure that can weaken and cause a brain haemorrhage. My friends boy had a bleed during rugby he was fortunately treated in another neurosurgical unit in newcastle and made a full recovery.

but like one comment states less than 1% of the population is still an awful lot - i seen quite a few myself i hate the way the NHS is going it has certainly changed so much since i started nursing i feel so sad its nolonger about patient care and nurses being autonomous its all about watch your backs you might get sued so dont give the care just write realms of paperwork so we can audit to show what a productive hospital you are!!!!

Having a bit of an off day today reflecting on my future and do i really want to continue nursing???? the stress is so high these days no one cares if you have not got enough staff but quick to jump down your throats if something gets missed or goes wrong - as for a caring profession i let you know when i next see HR and occ health ;-) kx
