I have a K-wire holding the 4th metacarpal in alignment and a screw in some other bone (there are too many bones in a wrist!) The plaster came off today and a new splint made by physio today-which is much lighter and more comfy than plaster of paris. Can't get it wet and watch out for signs of infection where the wire pokes out through the skin but otherwise all went pretty well. No bleeding probs with surgery and started back on Xarelto that evening and apart from a bit (well, actually a lot) of pain it all seems good.
So, unlike Humpty Dumpty I was put back together and should be good to go in 5 weeks. Can't yet drive so I'm being driven everywhere by long suffering Hubby-he's also taken up cook and bottle washer duties and even a spot of ironing!
