Hey ladies I was wondering if anyone has low iron and white blood cells on Fragmin?

My periods are very heavy on it !!! And I noticed my hair started falling out in Feb/March and the dr done my full blood count and he seen my iron was low and so were white blood cells!

Haemotology were gonna send me for a bone marrow scan but I since taking iron tablets my white cells have gone back to normal l!

(Apparently they were low since February). I feel the low iron was causing low wbc but they say it doesn’t . Thars the only thing I’ve done different in the last 3 months is take iron tablets before they went back to normal .

Xxx

HI, I have been suffering with low ferritin but my haemoglobin has been fine, for the last six months. I have been taking iron supplements along with Vitamin C, which I was told would help absorb the iron, but my ferritin has still dropped. They have ruled out infection or internal bleeding, so I am not sure what the next step will be.

I have been B12 deficient for a few years now and have been told this is all part of it. So worth getting your B12 checked too?

Glad the iron tablets worked for you.

Hi, you do need to make sure that your B12 is not low, and if it is, push for B12 injections, at the same time you must check your folate, which needs to rise, in order for the B12 injections to work, also check your D and your thyroid, I do regular testing throughout the year to make sure everything works, also if your Iron is low it makes your thyroid function run more slowly and as a lot of us are prone to thyroid problems that is also worth checking. I check well beyond the TSH test done for that with the GP or at the hospital as my personally ordered tests reveal far more of the picture. MaryF
