Overdoing supplements can negatively impact health. The right amount can be a lifesaver.

While taking supplements can improve health, taking too many or the wrong ones can negatively impact health. There are many studies that show the negative impact of taking too many supplements or the wrong supplements.

I wanted to write this post because while I have written more than one post regarding the positive impact of supplements, I believe it’s just as important to remind people that overdoing supplements can also have grave consequences.

For example:

Iron: “It is interesting to note that both iron deficiency and excess have been associated with an increased risk of developing thromboembolic events.” Annals of Hematology, “Iron and Thrombosis”, Introduction. link.springer.com/article/1...

Therefore, while being low on iron can cause blood clots, being too high on iron and overshooting it with supplements can also cause blood clots.

My personal list with regards to supplements:

1) Listen to your body.

2) Don’t overdo the supplements (know the scientific research)

3) Vitamin D, iron (ferritin), and many other vitamins (including many of the B vitamins) can be checked with blood tests.
