Anyone have trouble with iron saturat... - Hughes Syndrome A...
Anyone have trouble with iron saturation or low potassium?
Hi
I used to have issues with my blood Haemoglobin (Hb) levels - is that what you are asking about?
If so, I started on EPO injections once a week, then started taking iron tablets, after my transplant I used to have iron infusions (hooked up to a drip, it takes about 10 minutes but made me feel very peculiar while it was happening - your brain tastes of liquorish) and that helped me enough that now I am only on folic acid. My Hb levels are still love but the doctors are happy with them there - it doesn't seem to stop me doing anything!
Hope that helps. Please shout if I can help any more!

Hi.
Yes, after feeling fatigued a few years ago, my doctor requested bloods and my potassium was found to be low. He advised to simply eat a banana a day and that resolved it.
About six months previous to that I was feeling similarly fatigued and bloods revealed low iron which was treated with an iron supplement for a few weeks and I increased my dietary iron intake.
Good day,
I have struggled with low potassium for several years. I am now up to four very large potassium pills a day and it is still coming up low. My physician and I are perplexed over this. I hope you find an easier alternative and your numbers turn around soon.
Thank you all for your help.
Tx - my actual iron level good at 13-14 but its my iron saturation that is low. I'm not very clear on the difference. Is it safe to take iron tablets with aps ? My pharmacist said the iron tablets would thicken my blood?
Lozzer- I do the banana thing and that's not working:(.
Lori- sometimes I wounded if the tablets work?? My doctor is determined to figure out the cause. Do you notice going to the bathroom any different when your goes low? How low does yours go? Is it all of the time?
Thanks you guys.
Hi!
Since I have APS my blood tests show low iron saturation. I have been taking iron tablets from time to time when my speciallist say its needed. I realised that my iron saturation and iron in blood is decreasing every new test despite of taking iron tablets. My saturation last result was 8.32 %(normal ratio 20-50%). My Haemoglobin levels are always normal, saturation and iron only low. Now, Ferritin protein has been asked for.
I always feel tired and now I don´t know if it is due to iron, APS, or what.... and doctors dont pay attention to my tiredness
I never had such iron deficiency before APS (2 years ago).
I also have this same prob. I don't understand what's going on with me. My hemoglobin and hematocrit are normal. My percent saturation is at a 10. Which should be between 15-50. And my iron is at a 50 which is right on the low mark. (Should b between 50-170). These are based on ER/Hemotologist forms. I'm extremely weak, loss of appetite, nauseous and just don't feel well at all. Any advice?
