Extra Heartbeat referral

Hello

I recently went to my GP just got a review and mentioned I had been getting dizzy spells, feeling tired all the time and breathless.

I have been suffering with anxiety so we was initially putting it down to that until my blood pressure was taken.

The doctor detected an extra heart beat occurring at regular intervals and took me straight for an ECG which also showed this.

I have now had blood tests taken and been referred to a cardiologist which I am now awaiting a date for that.

My relative has a smart phone heart rhythm tracker which I tried and attached the photo.

Just wondering what could have caused my heart to now have a regular beat all time and what sort of treatment I may be looking at?

Hi, i kinda have the same symptoms, I have had this for the past 3months etc, had 24hr ecg, bloods took, i took myself to the hospital last fri as felt chest tightness and loss of breath, the hospital have told me they think I have Brugada syndrome, I have more appointments this coming week and next to get to the bottom of this, I really hope they have it wrong.

Hopefully they get you sorted and good luck with it all.

I get occasional chest tightness but been reluctant to go to the hospital as I’m still awaiting a date for my referral.

had the same symptoms. just turned 75 and chalked it up to my age. blacked out on the golf course and thought I needed to see gp. referred me to cardiologist. did a heart cath and found 3 blocked arteries. now have a stent. feel a little better, but not much. docs don't seem to put much stock in irregular beats. say its not "problematic." hope you have better luck. just keep pushing until you are satisfied. they don't like it, but it is your health.

Prior to discovering an outwardly similar arrhythmia, my symptoms (breathlessness, persistent niggly cough and oedema) led to a diagnosis of heart failure. The symptoms also included a sensation that I thought was anxiety and any situation that elevated my stress level AT ALL exacerbated this. I believe that anxiety is frequently misdiagnosed although one’s mental state clearly has an effect on the symptoms (adrenaline effect?). I believe it is important to recognise this.

Treatment may be limited to drugs but an ablation may be offered if it would improve your Quality of Life.
